Neighbors

Remember that time when
we picnicked on the Moon?
Holding hands, we looked to our nearest
neighbor and wished to be aquainted.
Using a vehicle of love and light,
the distance melted away.
Watchfully, our mother, the Earth,
released us to the Moon.
We enjoyed the glistening
sunshine reflected off the rocks.
Dancing from hilltop to hilltop,
mother smiled once again.
The sandwiches you packed tasted
better than any eaten on a patch of grass.
In spirit lifted minds, we understood be-ing.
We lived in contentment for all living forces.
Predictably, the Earth eclipsed the Sun,
a cold blanket of darkness ensued.
At first we were frightened not to see any light,
the entirety of the universe understood
only by our brief existence.
"We seem so small", I remember you saying.
Momentarily, a collective of distant light
combined for us to see neighbors far far away.
In that moment, time surrendered its power to us.
Million of miles could not stop the warmth we felt.
I wonder if we'll ever meet?
